The Andrzej Markowski International Festival Wratislavia Cantans is one of the most important classical music festivals in Europe. Founded in 1966 by the Polish conductor Andrzej Markowski as an oratorio-cantata festival, until today it has focused primarily on presenting the beauty of human voice.

Every year, the Wratislavia Cantans concerts festuring stars of classical music attract thousands of music lovers to Wrocław’s historical interiors and, further afield, a dozen towns in Lower Silesia. In the recent years the festival hosted, among others, Zubin Mehta, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Philippe Herreweghe, Cecilia Bartoli, Paul McCreesh, Ton Koopman, Julia Lezhneva, Giovanni Solima, Jordi Savall, Marcel Pérès, and esembles, such as Collegium Vocale Gent, Akademie für Alte Musik, Gabrieli Consort & Players, Il Giardino Armonico, Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists, and Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Giovanni Antonini is Artistic Director, and Andrzej Kosendiak is General Director of Wratislavia Cantans.
